A pair of antique gold-filled cufflinks of oval bean-back chain-link form, each face engraved with a foliate scroll border framing a central script monogram. A classic Edwardian-into-early-20th-century men's dress style.
The pieces are rolled gold / gold-filled construction, marked HAYWARD to the bar — Walter E. Hayward & Co., an American maker established in 1851 and known for gold-filled and sterling pieces. No karat (solid gold) mark is present.
Each cufflink is double-sided with a smaller plain oval link joined by a curved bar, the traditional pre-war fitting that slips through both buttonholes.
Condition: good antique. Both cufflinks intact and wearable, with the chain-link bars sound. There is honest surface wear with some loss of the gold layer at high points exposing the base metal underneath (see photos). Please review all photos as part of the description.
Measurements: face approximately 0.6 in long. Pair weight 3.76 g.
