A Refined Limoges Ravier with the Spirit of Old Meissen

This elegant oval relish dish — known as a ravier in French table tradition — comes from the celebrated Paul Pastaud atelier of Limoges, France. Pastaud was a small, highly regarded décorateur workshop active from the 1920s through the 1960s, known for richly hand-finished porcelain in the European fine ceramic tradition.

The hand-painted decoration is in the Meissen-style scattered floral (Streublumen) manner: pink cabbage roses, blue cornflowers, yellow wild roses, violets, and forget-me-nots are arranged in loose bouquets and single sprigs across the ivory porcelain ground. Each flower is rendered with shaded petals and fine leaf detail — the kind of brushwork that rewards close looking.

The form is sculptural: a long, boat-shaped oval with a softly scalloped, undulating rim and two scrolled gilt handles that lift the piece into something architectural. The rim and handles are finished in burnished gold.

A graceful, useful piece — equally at home holding olives, chocolates, or a single stem of garden roses on a dressing table.

Excellent. No chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs to the porcelain. The hand-painted decoration is bright, complete, and unworn throughout. Minor gilt rub at a few points along the scalloped rim, consistent with gentle vintage use — visible on close inspection but does not detract from the piece on display.

Hand wash only. Not microwave or dishwasher safe due to gold trim.
