Ruby Zoisite, also known as Anyolite, is a naturally occurring metamorphic rock mined primarily in Tanzania. It combines ruby corundum with green zoisite and black hornblende in a single stone, making each cabochon one of a kind. The bold contrast of red and green has made it a favorite for statement Southwestern silver work since the 1990s. This pendant features a classic shadow box construction — the stone sits within a recessed oxidized field surrounded by an oval frame of hand-stamped sterling, a hallmark of skilled silversmithing.
Hallmarks: stamped STERLING with a 980 maker's mark on the bail. Native American style work, not artist-attributed. Listed as Navajo Style in accordance with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act (IACA).

Condition: Excellent pre-owned. The sterling shows light surface scratches on the smooth back consistent with normal wear; the front bezel work, stamping, and stone are intact with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The natural Ruby Zoisite cabochon has the matte-to-satin finish typical of this stone — Ruby Zoisite is a softer composite material that does not take a high mirror polish like agate or jasper. Sterling has been gently cleaned; the oxidized shadow box recess has been preserved to maintain depth and contrast.
