The lid features a single hand-carved jade plaque with pierced floral and foliate motifs, framed by four brass endless-knot appliqués (a Chinese symbol of continuity and good fortune). Engraved leaf-form brass corner brackets, butterfly hinges, and a longevity-pattern lock plate complete the hardware. The interior is lined in turquoise-blue silk brocade woven with mandarin ducks, pavilions, and willow trees, with divided compartments and a fitted ring-slot tray.
