A handsome small bronze vase in the classical Chinese baluster form, with a flared trumpet mouth, slender waisted neck, and pedestal foot. The surface carries a richly mottled simulated-archaic patina in tones of verdigris green, ochre, and rust — evoking the look of excavated ancient bronzes prized by Chinese scholars and collectors.
A perfectly scaled object for a desk, mantel, bookshelf, or curio cabinet. Lovely on its own, or paired with a single stem.
Details
• Material: Bronze (or bronzed metal) with applied archaic-style patina
• Height: approx. 5 in / 12.7 cm
• Weight: 4.8 oz / 136 g
• Style: Chinese archaic-revival, after Song–Ming baluster forms
• Period: 20th century
Provenance
Acquired from a New England private collection. The underside retains its original round paper dealer label monogrammed "YC NYC," indicating it was sold through a New York City gallery or importer.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. Patina is stable and intact. No cracks, dents, or repairs noted. Original dealer label present but lightly worn (see photos). Please review all photos as they form part of the description.
Ships carefully wrapped and double-boxed.
